We heart BEES!

The bees have arrived – just in time for the blooming of the fruit trees. In case you didn’t already know, most fruit trees rely on the pollination of bees (bats and humming birds too), to fertilize the fruit bloom.

We very much honor the work of the honey bees and are diligent in ensuring they thrive. We do this by placing buckets of water in the trees, along with a burlap sack for the bees to climb in and out of the bucket to get a much needed drink. We ensure that any needed chemical application is made in the cold of the morning when the bees aren't flying. And, we grow clover in our ground cover grass to help feed the bees post bloom time. We’ve also added lavender plants to the field where the bees are kept to give them another source of food.

We are very grateful to play host to several hives and are anxious for the bees to waggle their way from one bloom to another as their work gives promise to a fruit crop for all of us to enjoy.
